About Accounting Degree Programs and Our 2027 Rankings

We help future accountants compare the degree programs we rank, with the cost, format, and accreditation facts schools bury on separate pages.

What This Site Does

Comparing accounting programs is hard because the facts sit on different school pages, and some schools publish a price per credit while others publish a yearly rate. We collect 159 programs at 132 schools into one place, put cost, credits, format, and accreditation side by side, and rank each program against others at the same degree level.

Every program has its own review, and every ranking explains why a program appears where it does. Guides, career pages, and certification pages use the same sources, so a figure on one page can be checked against the others.

BA in Accounting, Portland State University

Haley Hankins edits Accounting Degree Programs and holds a BA in Accounting from Portland State University. Haley reviews the data behind our rankings and reviews. That includes each school's own program pages, federal data from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), and Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data. Haley also explains the limits of that data to readers.

How We Verify Programs

Researchers read each school's own program, tuition, and admissions pages in October 2026 and recorded what the school states: credits, per-credit rate, format, start dates, admissions rules, and certification preparation.

We then joined that record to federal data: IPEDS completion rates and program completions, and College Scorecard graduate earnings. We also checked accreditation against official program lists. Those lists come from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE).

Each program review lists the school pages we used. When a source does not publish a figure, the page leaves it out rather than guessing. The methodology page explains how the seven scored factors work and what each one weighs.

Our Editorial Standards

  • Primary sources first. Costs and formats come from the school, and completion rates from IPEDS. Graduate earnings come from the College Scorecard, occupation pay from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and accreditation from the accreditor's own list.
  • No invented figures. We do not estimate or fill gaps. If a school does not publish a number, we leave it off.
  • Data dates on every page. Program data was last verified in October 2026, and each page shows when it was updated.
  • No promises. Occupation pay describes a whole field, and graduate earnings are past medians, so neither is a promise of what you will earn. Finishing a degree does not guarantee a job or a certification.

Corrections

If a price, requirement, or accreditation on a page is out of date, email the editor with the page address and a link to the school's page. We check every report against the source and correct verified errors.

How the Site Is Funded

This site may receive compensation when readers request information from or enroll in a featured program. Sponsored placements are labeled and do not receive a higher ranking. Tuition, accreditation, and federal education and wage data are reported the same way regardless of partnership status.
