Compare the Best Programs Side by Side
These 12 bachelor's programs are built to get your accounting degree done faster. Some use short terms, and a few simply describe themselves as accelerated. Northwest Missouri State, Texas Tech and Towson call their programs accelerated. Ten can be done online, and Texas Tech and Towson offer an accelerated path on campus.
Those two also have a 150-credit bachelor's-to-master's path. That's the number of hours most states want before you sit for the certified public accountant (CPA) exam. Every school here holds business accreditation from one of three bodies. Those are the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
The third is the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE). Published tuition starts at $354 per credit at Southern New Hampshire. Most of your speed comes from short terms and the credits you bring in, so you'll want to start by counting what you already have.

How We Chose These Programs
We looked for bachelor's degrees in accounting with an accelerated format: terms of 8 weeks or less, or a school that calls the program accelerated. We considered campus, hybrid and online programs, and twelve made the cut. Each one is scored on cost, graduate earnings, completion, flexibility, track record, accreditation and reputation.
The list is sorted by how quickly you can move through a program, then by score. We check business accreditation against the official AACSB, ACBSP and IACBE lists. Where we cite federal data, it comes from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), the database every college reports to.
You can read the full method on the methodology page.

Count Your Transfer Credits First
Short terms help, but the bigger lever is how many credits you walk in with. Southern New Hampshire, Colorado State Global, Old Dominion, Northwood and Grand Canyon each accept up to 90. Northwest Missouri State accepts up to 78. Southern New Hampshire, Old Dominion and Northwood also take prior learning.
Southern Illinois lists 18 to 24 months for its degree-completion path, and Northwest Missouri State lists as few as 30 months. Texas Tech and Towson speed things up another way. You can move straight from your bachelor's into a master's and reach 150 credits in about five years. Before you apply, ask each school for a written credit evaluation. It's the thing that tells you your real finish date.
Pick a Term Length You Can Live With
Six of these programs run 8-week terms: Southern Illinois, Appalachian State, Old Dominion, Colorado State Global, Southern New Hampshire and Grand Canyon. Boise State runs 7-week terms and Northwood runs 6-week terms. National University runs 4-week terms, with online, hybrid and evening or weekend options.
Shorter terms mean you'll finish more courses each year. Each week also carries more reading and more deadlines. So think about your work hours. A 4-week term is a sprint, and an 8-week term gives you more room. Either way, you're free to ask for a sample syllabus before you enroll.
