Verdict
Our Verdict on the MAcc
Rutgers-Camden lets you build a 30-credit master's from five of eight accounting courses, then fill the rest with electives from its business analytics and MBA lists. A former FBI forensic accountant teaches the forensic course, and the school gives MAcc students a free certified public accountant (CPA) review program.
The Rutgers School of Business-Camden offers the Master of Accountancy as an online degree. You'll choose between two tracks, one for accounting graduates and one for career changers. Classes mix live sessions with work you do on your own schedule.
Fit
Who It Fits
- Working parents: one current student says the format lets her keep working while raising two children.
- Career changers with no accounting degree: the Transition Track starts with short Knowledge Seminars in financial accounting, tax and auditing.
- Accounting graduates who want choice: the Accountant Track lets you pick any five accounting courses from the MAcc list.
- Future fraud examiners: Forensic Accounting is taught by a former FBI forensic accountant, and an optional graduate certificate follows the same topic.
- Applicants without test scores or work history: you won't need the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or GRE, and the program asks for no work experience.
