Curriculum
What You'll Study
ACC 340 and ACC 440 walk you through external reporting, including how to research and resolve financial reporting issues. ACC 350 covers internal reporting systems for planning and control. You choose between ACC 430, which covers taxes and business decisions, and ACC 450, which covers auditing standards and evidence gathering.
ACC 460 focuses on ethics for professional accountants. ACC 330 Data Analytics in Accounting builds an analytics mindset, and CIS 407 adds Structured Query Language (SQL) and data warehousing. You can take electives like environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting.
Every W. P. Carey student takes WPC 300, which teaches a systematic way to approach open-ended business problems, and the WPC 480 capstone comes after the upper-division business core. For clubs, you can join Beta Alpha Psi or the Finance and Accounting Career Club, the student chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).
