Verdict

Our Verdict on the BBA

Cincinnati's fully online accounting BBA uses the same coursework on-campus students take, from Intermediate Accounting to Auditing and a Business Strategy capstone. A dedicated Student Success Coordinator follows you from enrollment to graduation.

Your diploma and transcript come from the University of Cincinnati and don't say the program was completed online.

Fit

Who It Fits

  • Working adults who can't attend set class times: you can pace the degree to your own schedule.
  • Students with earlier college credit: eligible transfer credits can shorten your timeline.
  • Future auditors: the Auditing course prepares you for an entry-level job in public accounting or internal auditing.
  • Students eyeing a certified public accountant (CPA) license: Lindner points you to its MS in Accounting or MS in Taxation for the extra hours. Online graduates can continue into the online MS in Taxation.
  • Students who want a named guide: your coordinator offers personal advice from enrollment through graduation.

Curriculum

What You'll Study

Intermediate Accounting I and II cover financial reporting under generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), from revenue, receivables and inventory to property, plant and intangible assets. Introduction to Taxation teaches individual federal income tax, including filing rules and deductions. Cost Accounting shows you product costs, budgeting and variance analysis. Accounting Information Systems trains you to spot fraud and error risk in internal controls.

Advanced Financial Reporting and Advanced Financial Accounting add business combinations, consolidations and foreign currency. Business Strategy is the required 3-credit capstone that ties your degree together. Around the accounting courses sit a business core with Business Analytics I and II, Business Finance and Legal Environment of Business. The accounting department also won a $10,000 PwC Foundation award to bring accounting analytics into the curriculum.

Length

How Long It Takes

Most students earn this degree in about four years. If you've got transfer credit or take a heavier load, you can shorten that, and part-time study stretches it. Most states ask CPA candidates for 150 semester hours. Lindner says the extra hours can be undergraduate or graduate, and a master's in accounting or taxation is highly recommended. ACCT 5198 Accounting Ethics meets the ethics rule for most states beyond Ohio.

Cost

Tuition and Fees

Part-time tuition is $660 per credit hour for Ohio residents and $675 for non-residents. Those rates include a $42 program fee and a $22 distance learning fee, and the school waives the application fee for online programs through Spring 2027.

Format

Format and Schedule

You log in on your own time, because most UC Online coursework is asynchronous, so there's no set class time. You can start in spring, summer or fall. The first application deadline for Spring 2027 is November 1, 2026, with classes beginning January 11, 2027. Online students can use academic advising, Career Services, technical support and library resources.

Credentials

Which Certifications It Prepares You For

Lindner College of Business has held AACSB accreditation since 1919, and the university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The department keeps long-term ties with Deloitte, EY, FORVIS, Grant Thornton, KPMG and PwC. If you want the CPA license, you can add the extra hours through a master's in accounting or taxation.
