Verdict
Our Verdict on the BBA
You can stay in Athens for a fifth year as a Tull accounting major and finish the Master of Accountancy (MAcc) alongside the BBA through the Double Dawg pathway. Class of 2024 graduates who answered the career survey went on to BDO, EY, Grant Thornton, KPMG, PwC and RSM.
The J.M. Tull School of Accounting teaches this Bachelor of Business Administration inside UGA's Terry College of Business in Athens. You'll take classes on campus. The curriculum mixes accounting with business, economics and management coursework.
Fit
Who It Fits
- Students aiming for the 150-hour certified public accountant (CPA) route, since the Double Dawg pathway lets you finish both degrees in five years.
- Test-takers who like a clear gate: you'll need a score of 70 or higher on the Accounting Entrance Exam to get into the major.
- Future auditors and tax staff, because you'll see recent graduates in audit associate and tax associate jobs at Big Four and national firms.
- Students who want options beyond public accounting: you'll find graduates in job titles such as budget analyst, financial planner and commercial banking analyst.
- Undergraduates who like fast-moving feedback from employers: you get a recruiting handbook and a major advising office.
Curriculum
Curriculum
The school says accountants should be competent businesspeople in a shifting global environment. So the major pairs accounting with courses in business, economics and management. Topics include accounting standards, financial statement preparation, product cost and budgeting, taxation, auditing, risk assessment and control, and accounting systems. A thread on professionalism in the business environment runs through the program.
On the Double Dawg path, you take four prerequisite courses as an undergraduate: Intermediate Accounting I, Intermediate Accounting II, Accounting Information Systems and Data Analytics, and Tax I. The major page links a four-year plan and an accounting course list. Tull also runs a Beta Alpha Psi chapter, called Beta Upsilon, and lists the National Association of Black Accountants as a student resource.
Length
How Long It Takes
The major page links a four-year plan. The Double Dawg BBA/MAcc pathway lets current Terry accounting majors finish both degrees concurrently in five years. You apply to the pathway in the first semester of your third year. You then apply to the MAcc in your fourth year.
Cost
Tuition and Fees
UGA charges flat tuition each semester. For 2026-2027, that's $5,067 if you're a Georgia resident and $15,902 if you're not, before fees. You'll find Tull Scholarships listed on the accounting major page, and the university's Office of Student Financial Aid is listed as a resource for paying for school.

What Students and Graduates Say
A commenter on r/UGA in 2025 called UGA the strongest accounting choice in Georgia. Another said UGA's employer connections and career resources help students find jobs. A third pointed to UGA's high CPA pass rates, and a Terry graduate there said the Tull School has long ranked near the top.
UGA's career center lists Class of 2024 accounting graduates at BDO, EY, Grant Thornton, KPMG, PwC and RSM. Most graduates who answered continued their education, and UGA's own MAcc is among the programs they entered.
