Verdict

Our Verdict on the BBA

Whitewater teaches the online accounting major with the same curriculum as the campus one. The instructors come from Big 4 firms, large corporations and certified public accountant (CPA) firms. You'll also get a hands-on Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) tax clinic course. A flat online rate for every state rounds it out.

The College of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater offers this Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. You can finish it entirely online, with no requirement to come to campus. It's the largest AACSB-accredited college in Wisconsin.

Fit

Who It Fits

  • Out-of-state students: the online per-credit rate applies to you, as it does to Wisconsin residents and international students.
  • Aspiring tax preparers: in the VITA e-filing clinic course, you'll prepare real income tax returns that are filed electronically.
  • Second-degree seekers: if you already hold a bachelor's, you'll only need the college requirements and the major.
  • Future fraud examiners and data-minded students: your electives include Fraud Examination and AI in Accounting and Finance.
  • Students aiming for the CPA: you can build the required coursework with a second major in finance, business analytics or information technology.
