Verdict
Our Verdict on the BBA
Baruch's accountancy major offers an Accounting Analytics track that pairs accounting with programming and data visualization, plus a paid co-op of four to six months. A five-year path that pairs the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with an MS then carries you toward the New York certified public accountant (CPA) education rules.
The Accountancy BBA is taught in the Zicklin School of Business at CUNY Baruch College in New York City. It's a bachelor's degree earned on campus. You choose between the Accountancy track and the Accounting Analytics track.
Fit
Who It Fits
- Future New York CPAs: the BBA/MS Path to CPA runs five years, and business law courses LAW 1101 and LAW 3102 together meet the state's business law requirement.
- Students who like data: the Analytics track adds programming for analytics, data visualization and business analytics courses.
- Hands-on learners: the Analytics co-op is full-time work in a job related to your degree.
- Future auditors: ACC 4361 Internal Auditing and CIS 4350 Information Technology Audit are electives.
- Transfer students: you can bring credit in, then take your upper-level accounting at Baruch.
Curriculum
What You'll Study

Length
How Long It Takes
The BBA/MS Path to CPA is a five-year route. You'll earn the bachelor's, then finish the master's with waivers for LAW 1101 and LAW 3102 when you earn a B- or better. You may take no more than two of Financial Accounting I, Financial Accounting II, Cost Accounting and Accounting Information Systems in one semester.
TAX 3300 sits outside that limit. Transfer students take at least 8 credits of 3000-level accounting at Baruch. The Analytics co-op spans two semesters: a 1-credit professional development course, then a full-time placement.
