How We Chose These Programs
Every Connecticut program here teaches accounting through a business school, and you can attend on campus, hybrid or from home. We only count accreditation once the program shows up on the accreditor's published directory.
Each level has its own list, scored on seven factors: cost, graduate earnings, completion, flexibility, track record, accreditation and reputation. You can read how it works on the methodology page. You'll find each program's score, out of a possible 100, on its card.
Bachelor's programs run from 78.6 to 80.3.

Preparing for Connecticut CPA Licensure
Several programs are built around certified public accountant (CPA) licensure. Central Connecticut's bachelor's meets the business and accounting education requirements of the Connecticut State Board of Accountancy. Its master's prepares you to meet the education requirements for CPA licensure in Connecticut, and the courses focus on the disciplines in the 2024 CPA licensure model.
Sacred Heart's 30-credit master's can count toward the 150 hours you need for licensure, and you may be eligible for Becker CPA review at no cost. Fairfield's master's includes time off to take the CPA exam and complete paid internships. If you want the exam steps, our CPA requirements guide covers them.
Matching a Program to Your Calendar
If you want an internship, UConn's bachelor's encourages one in the spring, summer or sixth or seventh semester. Its accelerated B.S./M.S. lets up to 12 graduate credits count toward both degrees. Fairfield's master's is designated as a science, technology, engineering and math program, with specializations in Assurance, Business Analytics and Taxation.
You can finish Hartford's master's full time in less than one year, or go part time at your own pace. There's a dual MSAT/MBA too. If you'd like a longer combined path, Central Connecticut offers a 5-year accelerated BS/MBA or BS/MSA.
